An Open Conversation with the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation

This week CEO (Crypto Economy Organisation) delegation had a chance to meet with Vice Minister Eglė Markevičiūtė and her team from the innovation and digital agenda departments. Our organisation President Vytautas Kašėta and Vice President Andrius Bartminas presented European Commission initiatives on Next Generation Internet & European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) for the representatives of the ministry.

During a discussion on the impact of these initiatives for Lithuania, CEO Vice President Gediminas Laucius drew attention to the rapidly approaching implementation of MiCA (Markets in Crypto Assets) reglamentation and related opportunities for Lithuania to be a pioneer in creating a stable and predictable legal base and business environment.

"We are glad that Vice Minister Eglė Markevičiūtė sees some opportunity windows for our further cooperation. The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation is already reacting to the mentioned initiatives. Still, the CEO can be of help for the development of Lithuania's artificial intelligence strategy, proposals for the digital decade program, and determination of other important KPIs of the digital agenda. Of course, we are also ready to give any support needed regarding MiCA implementation and the formation and dissemination of good practise," – says Skaistė Budbergytė-Zabielaite, director of the Crypto Economy Organisation.

Soon CEO together with a team from the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation will analyse the R&D tax benefit and what can be done to make it more efficient.

Other questions like can Lithuania become a Leader of NGI (Next Generation Internet) (Web3 and DeGov) innovations and many more were raised. The answer is still not ready, but we are looking forward to further collaborations in making it happen.
